The plan you follow imperfectly for ten years beats the plan you follow perfectly for six weeks. Here is how to build for the long horizon.
The most common reason people fail at health change is not weakness. It is design. They build a plan that requires an unusually good week to execute, and ordinary weeks are the ones that actually happen.
Build for the ordinary week
Ask yourself what version of the plan survives a bad night of sleep, a work deadline, and a family obligation in the same week. That version, not the ambitious one, is your real programme.
The minimum effective dose
Define a floor you will not go below: two strength sessions, a daily walk, a protein target. On good weeks, exceed it. On hard weeks, hit the floor and call it a success. The floor is what compounds.
Missing once is data, missing twice is a pattern
One skipped session is noise. Two in a row is the beginning of a new habit. The rule is simple: never miss twice.
Over a decade, the difference between the person who trains eighty percent of the weeks and the person who trains perfectly for two months is not close.
